Unit Catering Manager - Moseley Primary School - 27.50 hours per week
Our award winning school meals in Solihull have never tasted better and we are proud to offer pupils across the borough a great range of delicious, healthy meals, using locally sourced, high quality ingredients. We are currently looking for a Unit Catering Manager to work 27.50 hours per week Monday to Friday at Moseley School, Moseley Avenue, CV6 1AB, term-time only basis. With an enthusiasm for producing well presented, healthy and delicious meals, you will be responsible for delivering a lunchtime service to be proud of to our pupils. Your duties will include ordering, preparing and cooking a range of meals using high quality, locally sourced ingredients to follow a centralised menu plan for breakfasts, lunches and sometimes also buffets, as well as having the opportunity to unleash your creative side, as you run regular promotions to mark key events in the calendar, such as Bonfire Night and Valentine's Day. Other duties include serving our award winning meals and assisting children in making healthy choices, managing a small and friendly team of Catering Assistants and of course the usual administration tasks associated with running a catering unit. And your job will be made all the easier by the recent introduction of our innovative cashless electronic till systems. You will need an NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking (or equivalent e.g. City and Guilds), along with a Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or successful completion within your first 12 months). This is an essential car user post as the demands of the job make it operationally essential and there is a contractual requirement to make a suitable vehicle available to ensure the requirements of the job can be carried out effectively. Applicants must be able to drive, have a driving licence and be a car owner, however for disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required. Your experience in delivering excellent customer service will also be crucial to meet the individual needs of each and every child, in addition to good communication skills, to ensure we continue to deliver our catering service to the high standards we are proud to have achieved. In return, we offer access to our Employee Assistance Programme (a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service), our Local Government Pension Scheme and various other employee benefits including a staff discount card. To apply, please click on the link below. If you have a specific question regarding this post, please contact Charlotte Kiely, on 0121 704 6623. This post will require a DBS check. This post is covered by the Fluency Duty, as outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. Solihull Council has a responsibility for, and is committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
