Due to the promotion of the current post holder, Church of the Ascension is looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner to help the school to move to the next level.


The successful candidate will play a key role as part of our SLT.


We need a person with high expectations who is committed to raising our high standards even further.

The successful candidate will manage the running of Key Stage One and Foundation Stage, ensuring that the curriculum is properly planned and delivered, and will support colleagues in maintaining high standards of pastoral care. He / she will be a key member of the Senior Management Team and ensure the effective running of the school, in particular his / her own department.


The closing date for applications is 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday 4th May with interviews to be held on Thursday 20th May.

Management Responsibilities:


To support at all times the ethos of the school.


To work with the Headteacher and other members of the Senior Management Team to raise standards throughout the school.


To lead departmental meetings in order to plan and monitor activities or events appropriate to the Key Stage.


To advise colleagues on effective teaching and learning strategies and to keep them up to date on educational developments.


To support staff in maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline.


To monitor the work of the department. To use the information to evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, and to revise methods accordingly.


To support colleagues in coping with the challenges of class teaching.


To manage the performance of colleagues within the Key Stage.


An amount of non-contact time will be arranged in order to permit the successful candidate to carry out his / her management duties. 


 


Curriculum Responsibilities:


To co-ordinate the leadership of Mathematics across the whole school


To ensure that proper curriculum content and balance is maintained in the department.


To work closely with the rest of the Senior Management Team to ensure the effective planning and delivery of the whole curriculum.


To be committed to promoting the Christian ethos of a Church of England school.


Administrative Responsibilities:


To monitor resources in the Key Stage and in the areas of curriculum responsibility. To order resources appropriately and in a timely fashion.


To oversee the organisation of educational visits and similar activities in the department. To ensure that all administrative procedures are followed appropriately.


Classroom Responsibilities


To be fully responsible for a class within the Key Stage.


To act as a leading professional and to positively influence the effectiveness of colleagues throughout the school.


Qualifications and Training


Essential – Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of further professional development


Desirable – Evidence of additional personal development linked to education
management, Early Years practice or co-ordination of a core subject
MaST qualification, or participation in MaST programme


Experience


Essential - Classroom experience in Key Stage 1
Experience of end of Key Stage Assessment arrangements.
Substantial teaching experience


Desirable - Experience in Foundation Stage or KS 2


Knowledge and Skills


Essential - Outstanding classroom practice
Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
Knowledge of curriculum development
Experience of co-ordinating a curriculum area


Desirable - Evidence of coaching and mentoring of colleagues
Experience of co-ordinating a core subject, ideally maths


Personal Skills


Essential - Commitment to a team approach of working
Commitment to support and facilitate the school’s vision for continued improvement
Good communication skills
Ability to create good working relationships with pupils, staff, governors and parents
A commitment to pursue further professional development
Commitment to the Christian ethos of the school


Desirable - Positive leadership qualities linked to the ability to lead from the front
