About Us and The Role

 

 

Would you like to join us at Warwickshire Schools Library Service? We are excited to be recruiting for a SLS Customer Service Assistant. We are a very dedicated team of staff, working with schools across Warwickshire and beyond to encourage a lifelong love of reading and learning.

You will be based at our library at Hawkes Point and will be an integral part of our small but very busy team. Your role will often involve you being the first point of contact for all users, and you will need to have courteous and effective communication skills, ensuring a positive experience for our customers (schools). You will need to be motivate and able to work on your own.

You will support our customers and support the SLS’s service plan by delivering subscription book loan services. This is a large aspect of the role and will involve hand selecting, processing and packing project boxes and annual loan resources for our subscribing schools. An experience of the school curriculum is a benefit for this role, a love of reading is essential. We run three very popular book awards and read the longlists of books for these awards between us as a team.

It is important that you have a systematic, methodical and accurate approach to work. You will regularly need to shelve, repair and tidy stock and collate collections.

ICT plays a big role and you will often enter and update records on our library management system, you will also answer enquiries and support schools with their library management systems, for example downloading book management data in schools.

Key Skills & Experience Required

 

  • 4 GCSE passes, grade C or above or equivalent, to include English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with members of the public in a customer service environment, library or experience working within a school.
  • Ability to share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with customers of all ages.
  • A systematic, methodical and accurate approach to work
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Experience of using ICT and Windows based computer packages.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work with some initiative and little close supervision.
  • Ability to move and handle library resources.
