Head of Student Services - Burton Borough School

Term time plus 1 week (PD Days)

NJC S01 £14.38 - £15.33 per hour dependent on experience and length of service

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to work in conjunction with the Senior Vice Principal, to support Head of Schools in ensuring excellent student progress, high standards of behaviour and attendance and overall student well-being within each small school community.

The main purpose of this role is to support and counsel students; this requires being available for students to talk and report any issues they may have.  This person will lead on promoting healthy lifestyle choices for students through individual identification referrals to practitioners created via formulating partnerships. 

The post holder will be required to undertake complex work under the Safeguarding and Child Protection Framework.



Diversity of tasks and functions required for this role, main areas will include:

  • Dealing with any issues raised by students during confidential discussions promptly and inform relevant staff of the issues and the action taken.
  • Link with the schools Mental Health lead, to ensure that all students receive the support they require.
  • Work in conjunction with they SENDCO and HLTA team to ensure that all students with additional needs from Primary School have their required needs met on entry to Year 7.
  • In liaison with Careers staff to manage and co-ordinate the transition of all Y11 students to post-16 provision including the monitoring of potential NEETs.
  • Manage lateness and attendance issues with all students.
  • Work with school staff to ensure social times are a positive experience for all students.
  • Work alongside the Local Authority and bus companies to ensure the smooth running of the buses to and from school.
  • Attend TAC/LAC/ECHP meetings through Year 6
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and organisation of academic and welfare support service systems/procedures/policies within the school.
