About Us

This post offers the opportunity for a personal advisor to work with an already successful team working with separated children (UASC). We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing excellent support to young people who are both in and leaving care. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people moving towards independence and help care leavers to achieve a successful transition to adulthood.

We're a dedicated, hard working, pro active team and our priority is to support and enable care experienced young adults to realise their aspirations and ambitions as they become more independent.  We want to ensure that the young people we work with have a sense of feeling cared for, cared about and are given the support and advise they need to be able to make positive choices and care for themselves as they mature.

The Role

As a Personal Advisor in the UASC team you'll be working with young people from 18 up to 25 years, working together to develop pathway plans and identify support, helping young people access education and settled accommodation.  You will provide high quality and comprehensive support to young people in all areas of their path towards independence and empower them to take a lead in their future plans.  The role will involve supporting young people to move accommodation, apply for jobs, access education or learning opportunities and apply for any benefits they may be entitled to.

You must be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people.  You will have a good understanding of Leaving Care legislation and experience of working with vulnerable young people.  Exceptional communication skills are essential to be able to build relationships and encourage young people to access support.  You must be well organised with a positive attitude and flexible approach, with the ability to work to deadlines.  You will need keyboard skills and be competent in the use of computerised office systems.

For further information please see the Job Description and Person Specification.
