We are seeking a creative developer to join our Digital Transformation Team. This is a critical time for the team as we implement the council’s Digital Transformation Strategy to support the council to deliver modern and efficient services to customers.
In 2021 customer demand for high quality online services is greater than ever. One of our key team priorities is to continue to develop and expand the portfolio of services available through MySandwell, the councils well established customer portal (developed and deployed using Granicus GovService platform), with integrated and efficient services that are accessible and inclusive, achieving the high standards required to meet both customer and business needs and aspirations.
We are looking for someone with creative and innovative thinking, to help us realise change to how the council works and delivers its services. You will also have knowledge in using technology to improve the end user experience within a council setting.
It is key to this role that you have an understanding and interest in emerging technologies and contributing your ideas for future developments within a local authority setting. A basic understanding is required of computer programming languages and solutions e.g. SQL server or Amazon Cloudberry.
You must have an analytical approach to problem solving to formulate evidence based advice and recommendations with confidence to clearly present ideas for system and process improvement and efficiency to a non-technical audience.
Experience of writing technical specifications and thoroughly testing solutions, as well as issue resolution, problem solving and deploying critical and major update releases with minimal service disruption is critical to this role.
You need to have a strong track record of working across team and organisational boundaries to meet project deadlines and achieve outcomes together. Experience of working with project teams, technical leads and employees and a range of external technical business partners is important to this role(such as Granicus, Capita and Oracle).
It is essential that you have a collaborative attitude and a desire to share knowledge and learn, alongside a flexible approach and adaptable to different workstyles (i.e. agile and home working or working evenings or weekends where required) to meet dynamic business and operational needs.
Location
Sandwell (Currently working from home however, future expectation is agile working with the ability to work from an office based in Sandwell when required)
