Job Details

The Central Building Control Partnership is a shared service consisting of six councils across Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and South Derbyshire that is hosted by Lichfield District Council.

If you are self-motivated and committed to the provision of a high quality Building Control service, then you may be interested in our vacancy for a career graded Building Control Surveyor.

Working in our Building Control Partnership you will be part of a welcoming and supportive team. You will be responsible for your own area, checking plans electronically, carrying out site inspections to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations using digital technology, and developing and maintaining relationships with our clients. In addition you would be expected to resolve dangerous structures, and undertake enforcement activity when necessary.

The successful candidate should have previous Building Control experience, good knowledge of Building Regulations and the Building Act 1984, and ideally be RICS, CABE, or CIOB qualified (Building Control route). Where candidates are not fully qualified then they would be expected to complete a Level 6 Building Control degree via distance learning. Full support will be also given to completing any professional qualifications. A full UK driving license is essential.

If you have a positive approach to team working and service delivery this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and make a real impact in improving our services.

As a career graded post, covering Bands H - I inclusive, candidates should demonstrate in their application their competency and experience in relation to the grades as detailed in the specification. We offer up to 30 days annual holiday (plus bank holidays), flexible working, generous Local Government Pension Scheme, one relevant professional fee paid, free on site car parking and some home working. A standby allowance of £150/week is also paid to those staff prepared to be on call, out of hours for dangerous structures.

For an informal discussion please call the Building Control and Land Charges Partnership Manager David Darlington on 01543 308155, or email david.darlington@centralbc.org.uk
