Job Details

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing excellent support to care experienced young people.  Our priority is to build strong relationships and work restoratively with care experienced young adults to find lasting solutions.  In this role you will work with care leavers aged 18 – 25 who are identified as being at highest risk of becoming homeless or rough sleeping.  You will work with a wide range of other professionals to include housing staff in the districts and boroughs, accommodation providers as well as those from other professions, such as Adult Social Care, health services and support agencies.  We are committed to working flexibly and WCC has invested in technology to enable home working, working in the community and office days.

You will need experience of working with care leavers or young people facing homelessness and have an understanding of homelessness and housing legislation in order to advocate for and support young people.  Knowledge of accommodation pathways for young people who are at risk of rough sleeping, along with the confidence and ability to liaise with professionals and family to find solutions is essential.  You will need good organisation and communication skills and be confident to challenge when in the best interests of the young people you are working with.

This is an exciting opportunity, providing practical help and guidance to promote the safety and well being of care experienced young people who can face many uncertainties as they make the transition from care to independence.
