SENIOR EDUCATION WELFARE OFFICER
Permanent Post 17.5 hours per week
Term Time Only + 10 days
Based at County Hall
Salary between £11,797 - £12,578
Worcestershire Children First are seeking to appoint an inspirational, solution focused professional to join the Vulnerable Learners team as a Senior Education Welfare Officer (SEWO).
With a sound knowledge of school attendance matters and experience of working with children and young people missing education, the SEWO will provide daily casework support, advice and guidance for a team of Education Welfare and Children Missing Education officers. As the SEWO you will also deliver regular 1:1 supervision support and will be the lead officer in the most complex cases working collaboratively with colleagues, schools and external agencies. The post holder will be required to motivate and model best practice in order to secure the best outcomes for some of our most vulnerable learners.
With a comprehensive knowledge of proactive strategies and escalation procedures to secure regular school attendance, as well as an understanding of how best to support children missing education who are not on a school roll, the post holder will need to possess excellent organisational and communication skills, along with the enthusiasm and tenacity to find solutions to overcome challenging situations.
