Tamworth Borough Council has a rare opportunity for an exceptional individual, skilled business leader and heritage champion to join its team as manager of the award winning Tamworth Castle, Museum Collection & Archive.
Tamworth Castle is a multifaceted venue; accredited museum, award winning visitor attraction, key educator of stage 1-4, licenced wedding venue, and commercial events & hire. It was purchased for the Borough of Tamworth in 1897 and has since 1899 held a Museum Collection, Archive and Photography Collection that tell the Tamworth story from the Saxon era to present day. It is a fine example of a Norman Castle designated by Historic England as a scheduled ancient monument.
We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious individual with a genuine interest, and experience of working, in the heritage sector. You will also have at least 5 years commercial management experience in a customer focused business, visitor attraction / heritage site to help provide the necessary leadership and vision required to realise the Castle, Museum Collection & Archive’s next phase of Conservation and Commercialisation for its community and visitors.
As the new Castle Museum Collection & Archive Manager you will be an authentic leader, passionate about the sector and passionate about delivering a great experience for your people, visitors and stakeholders. You will be responsible and accountable for the Castle and its associated buildings through delivering the Safe & Legal, People, Visitor, Commercial and Community outcomes - you will be Tamworth Borough Councils brand ambassador for the Tamworth Castle & Museum.
