Permanent contract

With the re-opening of the Tamworth Assembly Rooms an opportunity has arisen to join the Arts and Events team at an exciting time. The Assembly Rooms underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment but unfortunately was open for a mere 8 weeks before all theatres were closed down due to Covid. In preparation for our live show programme commencing July, we are recruiting for this exciting role that is integral to the success of this recently refurbished and upgraded venue. Day to day, the role will be responsible for and lead on the smooth and efficient running of all venue operations; as well as leading a FOH team. You will work in tandem with technical, catering, programming and event teams to ensure a successful roll out of live shows, cinema screenings, conference meetings, events and private hires. In liaison with the Facilities Officer, you will oversee the smooth running of the venue’s Building Management System.

The Theatre Services Officer is the backbone of operations within the venue leading a team of duty managers and casual FOH stewards and bar personnel. The Assembly Rooms comprises of an auditorium, the Claymore Lounge café, Saxon Suite, Green Room and Public Realm space, and you will take responsibility to ensure all spaces work effectively and display a standard of professionalism.

Although based at the Assembly Rooms, the role will require you to help with outdoor events such as our annual fireworks display, drive in cinema, arts events and act as duty manager as and when required.

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be comfortable working in a busy, fast paced customer facing role. You will need to be a key team player, be comfortable making decisions and have previous team management experience. You will also need to demonstrate experience in working FOH and managing a team in either a theatre, leisure or hospitality based venue.

So if you are ready for a challenge, love working with people and can help create exciting events, then this is the role for you. No two days are the same and the role offers the opportunity to work in the multi-million pound refurbished Tamworth Assembly Rooms, the town’s historic Castle, and the Gold Britain in Bloom winning Castle Grounds.

The authority offers an excellent employment package with flexible working, a non-contributory health scheme, Local Government pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement.

Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work in the UK check, medical clearance and DBS check.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Adey Ramsel (Theatre, Artistic & Events Manager) on adey-ramsel@tamworth.gov.uk or 01827 709314.
