Starting Well is a new partnership scheme to enhance and complement Children Centre services in Sandwell and West Birmingham areas.

The partnership scheme will work closely with Midwives, Health Visitors, GPs, Social care and PCN Social Prescribing Link Workers to support expectant mothers up to eight weeks after birth with a seamless handover to existing Children Centre services. In addition, it will provide early years’ activities (0-2 ½ years children) where there are gaps in provision.

The scheme aims to provide much needed extra support to expectant mothers and children 0 to 2 ½ years of age living within:

  • High deprived ward areas of Sandwell and West Birmingham within the following towns: Smethwick, Tipton, West Bromwich, Rowley, and Ladywood.
  • BAME (including refugees and migrant) communities across Sandwell and West Birmingham.

 

The day-to-day duties:

  • To be responsible for administration of all aspects of support for Starting Well.
  • Provide high quality customer service including guidance and support. Responsible for ensuring all enquiries are dealt with and actions are followed up in an effective and timely manner.
  • Undertake day to day general administration duties (use of Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook, etc.).  Training will be provided for bespoke database systems.
  • Work with the project lead/coordinator to help produce monitoring and evaluation reports in a format and deadline specified by EMT and external commissioners.
  • Attend internal and external meetings on a regular basis (team, customer, etc.)
  • Attend monthly supervision and appraisal meetings with the Starting Well project lead/coordinator.
  • Attend any relevant training and seminars in line with job post.
  • Work in accordance with necessary policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and appropriate code of ethics.
  • Raise awareness and promote the work of the Starting Well project.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

A recognisable business administration qualification or working towards a business administration degree or equivalent.

Good standard of general education or equivalent, including Maths and English at grade C or above.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Training will be provided in bespoke database systems.

Clear and concise communication and skills (i.e., verbal, non-verbal, written and listening) and ability to use appropriate communication methods (telephone, face to face, email, social media etc).

Good customer empathy, interaction along with drive and motivation to succeed.

Proven ability to prioritise tasks and achieve set deadlines.

Strong I.T skills with the ability to analyse complex data.

Excellent organisational skills.

Ability to handle confidential material in accordance with confidentiality policy and GDPR policy.

Proven ability to work unsupervised or with limited supervision and take appropriate initiative.
