The Role
We are a busy, friendly, well supported legal team serving Worcestershire County Council in a beautiful and conveniently situated location in Worcester. We provide a high quality and well regarded service to our users and now need to recruit a legal Assistant (Adult Services and Debt Recovery). As part of the wider Adults, Education and Debt Recovery Team you will have responsibility to assist 4.5 solicitors who advise the People Services Directorate on Adult Social Care matters, including Court of Protection matters and the Centralised Debt Recovery Service on related matters across all Directorates and Worcestershire Children First. Your main role will be to draft Letters Before Claim, Application Notices, Court of Protection documentation for Deprivation of Liberty Authorisation Applications and Renewals, obtain evidence and ensure that it arrives in a timely way; provide witness liaison, run your own non-complex/lower value debt recovery proceedings caseload with the potential for advocacy in the Small Claims and County Courts for the right candidate. At the moment all posts are working from home with full wrap around technological support.
Are you highly organised, able to meet tight deadlines and with good analytical and communication skills? If so, we would like to hear from you. In return you will have the support of a committed and experienced team around you. We also offer a generous benefits package, which includes a flexi-time scheme, generous pension, child care vouchers and a relocation scheme in appropriate cases, as well as an edge-of-city location, very close to the M5.
