Home Finance Advisor
Redditch Borough Council
Post ref: CH0042
£29,577 to £33,782 per annum
Permanent post - 37 hours per week
This is an exceptionally exciting time to be joining the Housing Services Team at Redditch Borough Council as we embark on a programme of modernisation, transformation and improvement of our systems, processes, and services that will really make a difference to our operations and the services we deliver to our service users within the Borough of Redditch.
As a Home Finance Advisor within our Housing Revenue Team and as part of our structural Tenancy Sustainment thread, you will provide a high-quality Home Finance Advisory service that supports and meets the needs and requirements of tenants who are vulnerable, struggling to sustain their tenancies and at high risk of tenancy failure.
You will be tenacious in your engagement of tenants and be able to build trust and rapport to place you in a strong position to challenge often ingrained and / or inherited traditional behaviours and attitudes towards landlord – tenant relationships and debt.
You promote and support a culture of independent, self-reliant living for tenants, in accordance with the Councils strategic purpose and in support of your leaders and managers developing and implementing projects, strategies, initiatives, and incentives that enable and empower customers to make wise choices, live independently, sustain their tenancies, and reduce and prevent homelessness.
Therefore, to exceed in this role, you will need to be a qualified and accredited Money Advisor, with sound knowledge of housing and welfare legislation, regulation, case law and policy in relation to the provision of housing and financial advice services and the maximisation of income. You will deeply understand the complex welfare system, reforms and how they impact on tenants and risk tenancy failure and how tenancy failure impacts on both the landlord and tenant both socially and economically.
Personally, you will need to be confident and tenacious in engaging and working with people, often with chaotic and frenetic lives, preferably with experience of effective and sensitive counselling, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 9 May 2021
Interviews will be held week commencing 17 May 2021
