£29,577 to £33,782 per annum

Permanent post - 37 hours per week

This is an exceptionally exciting time to be joining the Housing Services Team at Redditch Borough Council as we embark on a programme of modernisation, transformation and improvement of our systems, processes, and services that will really make a difference to our operations and the services we deliver to our service users within the Borough of Redditch.

As our Charging Officer working within the Housing Revenue Team and with finance and asset management business partners, you will play a key role in maintaining a viable Housing Revenue Account (HRA) and ongoing delivery and development of Housing Services, by ensuring income from service charging, sundry housing debts and Section 20 Consultations are maximised to their full potential. You will be taking an active part in building a new suite of services charges to be built into our new housing management system and undertaking key financial activities at both the start and end of the year and day to day, ensuring that all service charging, and consultation is legally compliant, accurate, consistent, timely and transparent in application and delivery to our tenants and leaseholders. With Neighbourhood & Tenancy Officers, you will be responsible for ensuring that our tenants and leaseholders see clear value for money in the chargeable services the Council and its contractors provide and have the skills and ability to deal with consultations, enquiries and complaints about charges to outcomes that deliver high levels of satisfaction for the customer.

Therefore, to fulfil the requirements of this role, you will need to work accurately and diligently and possess extensive knowledge and experience of the calculation and accounting of service charges, including working knowledge of the Housing Acts, The Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, and The Service Charges (Consultation Requirements) (England) Regulations 2003 & the Commonhold & Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
