Who we need

We are looking for a dynamic individual and a creative problem solver to join us until August 2022, to help us continue shaping our transport programme. In addition, you will be working in a highly collaborative environment to improve the day to day performance of the KRN.

You will primarily be working within the Regional Transport Coordination Centre and closely with the four Urban Traffic Control Centres in the region and the Highways England Regional Operations Centre in Quinton. The role will be an essential part of the team monitoring and enhancing the performance of the KRN.

You will lead on implementing a monitoring framework, examining routes to understand daily issues and problems and developing strategies for addressing these. You will also support the development of wider strategic solutions across the network to enable better performance of the transport system.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in route network management including introducing measures to enhance network monitoring and performance. As are excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills to liaise with key stakeholders.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

About the Key Route Network

The West Midlands Key Route Network (KRN) represents 7% of all local roads and is a collection of local highways which carry 50% of all traffic and is critical to the region’s economy and for connecting us into the strategic road network. The KRN is operated and maintained by the seven local authorities and the West Midlands Combined Authority has concurrent powers with the local authorities for road safety, bus lane contravention, permits and air quality. With the opening of the Regional Transport Coordination Centre (RTCC) in January 2020, this role will form a core part of the team strengthening the fresh approach to management of the KRN within the RTCC.
