Dudley's Welfare Rights Service is looking for 2 additional Welfare Benefits Officers (WBOs) - one to work within the Community Care Contributions Team (CCC), and another to work within the Training and Consultancy Team (T&C) both roles are for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract (or can be a Secondment Opportunity).

Both teams have a major part to play ensuring vulnerable customers have their income maximised to enable them to maintain their independence.

WBOs working in the CCC Team also carry out financial assessments to establish the contribution customers may be required to pay towards the cost of their care and support.

WBOs working in the T&C team also deliver benefits training to internal and external organisations who are supporting vulnerable residents in the Borough.

Within an established service, where the majority of WBOs have been in post since the early 2000s, we are looking for 2 new faces to join us. These are new posts to backfill work required as a result of Senior WBOs taking on additional duties, and will help us to continue to provide an excellent service to our customers.

Hours:  37 per week (12 month Fixed Term Contract or Secondment Opportunity)

Salary:  Grade 8

Both teams

This is an exciting opportunity to work with customers to maximise their income through assisting with relevant benefits claims.

As part of established teams, these roles involve working closely with customers, by telephone, home visit and Email, liaising with colleagues, DWP and other benefit delivery organisations.

You will:

- have proven experience of advising claimants of their entitlement to the range of Social Security benefits

- be able to work with limited supervision and cope with pressure

- be self-motivated & committed to the rights of claimants

In addition:

CCC team

You will also undertake financial assessments to determine customer contributions for services received, so will have experience of Non-Residential Charging Policies.

T&C team

You will also deliver benefits training, so will have experience of training course preparation and delivery.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and vulnerable adults; therefore the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check.
