Virtual School Key Worker (Term Time) - ref CH00221

Salary: G6 FTE £23,541-£27,741 (actual term-time salary £19, 919 - £23,473) per annum

This is a full time, term time only post

Walsall’s Virtual School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resilient, and highly motivated professional who will work as an advocate for Looked After Children within our primary team.

As a Key Worker you will work alongside schools, nurseries, social workers, foster carers/parents, adoptive parents and a range of agencies to support the Virtual School in ensuring that all Walsall Looked After and previously looked after children receive a first-class education with high quality outcomes.

The post involves supporting schools and other stakeholders to understand the needs of our children, and challenge them when necessary to ensure appropriate provision is in place. This includes, working with staff using modelling and coaching strategies to improve outcomes, attending and leading education meetings, assisting with school moves and transitions and making sure that your students have everything they need to make good progress and succeed within education.

As well as work with schools and other professionals, this role also involves direct work with our children; you will work with other professionals to identify areas that children need support with, to then plan and deliver interventions to individual or small groups of children within your cohort to support their emerging needs. This may include activities such as, transition packages, support with self-regulation techniques, and support for emotional wellbeing, social skills and enrichment activities.

This post offers a great opportunity for a successful professional to contribute to the development of the Virtual School. You will be joining a highly motivated, and experienced team, committed to improving the life chances of our children and young people. Applicants should have knowledge of, experience in, and a commitment to, improving educational outcomes for looked after children, with a specific focus on the transition to secondary education
