Dudley Council Construction apprentices develop professional, technical and practical skills, knowledge and confidence and an opportunity to gain a recognised qualification via our Apprenticeship Programme. Dudley Council is recognised as the highest recruiter of apprentices in the Black Country.

2 x Bricklaying level 2, 3 x Carpentry level 2 and 5 x Plumbing level 3 apprenticeships are available. Interviews will be held June with the apprenticeship starting beginning September


Salary:  varies dependant on age/trade:


Hours: 37 per week



  • First Year: 16-17: £10,209.04 per year 18+: £14,849 per year

  • Each with increments dependent on performance and throughout the apprenticeship


Training Providers: Dudley College, Walsall College


Apprentices will be released from the workplace to attend college usually one day per week, although from time to time they may attend extra days or for block weeks.


Fixed Term contract dependent on trade qualifications agreed and qualifications already achieved which can be accredited to the apprenticeship standard.


As an apprentice, you will develop a wide range of skills to prepare you for your future career. Once you have learnt the basics you will be given the opportunity to gain more responsibility, putting new skills into practice.


“The apprentice will follow the National Apprenticeship Standard which will include:



  • Main trade qualification to level 2: either brickwork or carpentry; or plumbing level 3

  • Key Skills Application of Number and Communication (if required)


In addition, in some cases we may offer:



  • An extension to the level 2 apprenticeship to complete a second complimentary trade qualification to level 2 (an additional two years)


Additional employer requirements training to include mandatory training such as:



  • Health and Safety related training

  • Infection Control

  • Moving and Handling
