Required from September 2021 a Primary School Improvement Adviser (Education) to work with a locality-based group of schools within Sandwell.


Sandwell School Improvement Service is a high performing team with a reputation of excellence across the local region. The team works closely with Headteachers, school governors and a range of LA services and HMI to ensure the best possible standards of education for our children.


The successful applicant will need to have recent and relevant successful primary school headship experience and / or successful experience of working for a Local Authority as a school improvement adviser.


Applicants will also be knowledgeable about Ofsted processes and may be undertaking inspections on behalf of Ofsted.


The successful applicant should be conversant with the expectations of Local Authority work and should be able to contribute to the work of the team.


Experience in assessment and moderation work would be welcome, although this is not a key requirement for the role.


A year’s secondment for a serving headteacher would also be considered for this post, subject to agreement with the school’s governing body.


The post is based at Sandwell Council House but involves travelling across the borough and working outside of normal office hours to meet the needs of schools. For further information contact Julie Andrews on 07919 291012.


Qualifications Required 



  • Graduate or equivalent.

  • Qualified Teacher Status.

  • Post Entry Qualification in any aspect of Primary / Early Years.


A Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check will be required for this role.
