The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking to recruit a full time programme manager to join our dynamic and hardworking team and lead on an exciting programme of change - the Council’s Our People Programme.

You will work closely with key stakeholders, including the Deputy Director of People and Change, the Head of Organisational Development and the Service Lead for HR Policy and Strategy to ensure that programme is aligned to the strategic outcomes of the organisation, capturing benefits and identifying and managing any associated risks to successful delivery. You will utilise solid programme and project management methodologies as defined by the Corporate PMO and provide timely and accurate reports on programme progress and key delivery milestones.
The role is managed within the Project and Programmes Team structure, and will include the line management of a small group of project management resources who are responsible for a range of projects connected to the ongoing transformation and development of the organisation.
As a candidate for this position, you should have knowledge and experience of the full lifecycle of programme management and would have previous experience working on a wide range of projects as well as a strong ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders – include Heads of Service, Directors and Councillors. Experience of Prince 2 and/or MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) is highly desirable as is a solid understanding of and experience of working in key transformation projects particularly in an organisational development capacity.
Experience of direct line management of resources and oversight of budgets is also key to the role.
