Primary Intervention Provision  Specialist Teacher for children with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health needs (SEMH), managed by Solihull’s Specialist Inclusion Support Service (SISS)

Starting September 2021

We are advertising an exciting opportunity, for an outstanding, experienced, dynamic primary teacher, who is passionate about enabling children with social emotional and mental health needs to achieve their potential and be the best young person they can be. 

Solihull LA, as part of a range of initiatives, is setting up a new primary Intervention Provision (IP) for children with SEMH needs, which will be based in one of the schools in the north of the borough. The SEMH IP will be managed by SISS, who are looking to appoint, from September 2021, a specialist teacher for the KS2 classroom.

The SEMH IP will be set up as a nurture group and offer intervention placements for children, firmly embedded in the nurture model.  In the autumn term of 2021 you will work closely with the Intervention Provision Manager and SISS SEMH Team Coordinator to finalise the setting up of the KS2 provision, putting everything in place ready for it to open to pupils in the second part of the autumn term 2021.  The Intervention provision aims to be fully open to both Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils in April 2022.

You will lead and manage the KS2 team in the SEMH IP, under the direction of the Intervention Provision Manager.  You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the KS2 classroom and provision, the outcomes for the children placed there and establishing strong links with schools and families throughout an intervention placement and whilst transitioning pupils back into their home schools. 

We are looking to recruit a strong, creative teacher, who has extensive knowledge and experience of using a range of evidence based interventions which work for children with SEMH needs.  You will also have relevant experience of working successfully and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including children, families, schools, other professionals and multidisciplinary teams. 

You will mainly based at the Intervention provision, but will be expected to travel around the borough of Solihull to liaise with schools, head teachers and parents when required by the Intervention Provision Manager.
