Job Details

Housing is the landlord for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s owned properties and offers a range of services to both tenants and leaseholders. The department employs an in-house craft team that delivers a range of repairs and maintenance to homes throughout the borough, ensuring that they remain safe, comfortable and energy efficient.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Grade 8

The Housing Manager is responsible for the overall management of a patch of approximately 800 Council tenancies and other housing assets. This involves the coordination of a range of housing services to individual tenancies, estates and communities in accordance with council policies. The successful candidate will ensure that a proactive, professional, customer focused, high quality service is provided.

Extensive experience of Social Housing repair legislation and Landlords statutory obligations relating to the management of Fire Building safety

Full knowledge of PAS 79-2:2020  & PAS 79-1:2020, Working  knowledge of the principles of fire safety & responsible for one particular organization’s fire safety assessment, working knowledge of MHCLG Consolidated Advice note of January 2020, Knowledge Building Regulations in England, guidance in Approved Document B, Knowledge of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 , BS ISO 6182-1

Extensive experience of Programme and Project Management of all Fire Safety survey and remediation work

VRQ level 4 in Fire Safety Management or equivalent or working towards

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have the following qualities in their application for this post; significant housing management experience; commitment to improving services; working to deadlines and meeting targets; managing their own performance; have an active interest in self development; working in partnerships and being able at times to take the lead, computer literacy (and in which systems) and be flexible in approach and problem solving.

The successful candidate will need to be aware of current thinking and practice in social housing as well as understanding the political working environment that this post contributes to. Personal qualities must include empathy, resilience and integrity.
