Job Details

An opportunity has arisen to join the Revenues and Benefits team in the post of Assessment Officer. Reporting to the Assessment Manager, you will be responsible for the assessment of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax support applications, maximising customer entitlement to both to support people in paying their rent and council tax.  The service plays an important role in helping people to maintain their tenancies, reducing homelessness in the District and working closely with the Revenues team to ensure residents are billed correctly.

You must have knowledge of relevant legislation together with previous experience of processing Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support applications and changes of circumstances.  Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to deal sensitively with customers.
