Post No: CH134 -  37 Hours per week

Cannock Chase Council currently manages a housing portfolio of approximately 5,300 properties and is proud to deliver both a new build programme together with a planned investment programme of over £8m to repair and improve existing housing stock in order to improve the service quality and outcomes for our residents.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and focused  individual to join our developing and ambitious Housing Property Services Section as a Senior Gas Officer. You will assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring compliance is maintained in Gas and Solid Fuel Safety and help deliver a high level of service for our tenants across servicing, maintenance and refurbishment work programmes.

The successful post holder will play an important role in helping the team achieve compliance so we are looking  for someone with a real passion for keeping our tenants safe in their homes. You will also have a good eye for detail, be able to work under pressure and always endeavour to achieve a quality service.

It is essential you have significant demonstrable experience in the building industry dealing with gas safety, maintenance and refurbishment and have a thorough knowledge of the Gas Safety Regulations.

You will need to have attained ACS qualifications in Core Gas Safety (CCN1), Wet Central Heating (CENWAT) and Gas Fires (HTR1).

A Gas Safe registration, an ACS qualification in Cookers (CKR1) and Level 4 VRQ Certificate in Gas Safety Management for Social Housing are desirable. Commercial gas qualifications and qualifications in renewable technology would be advantageous.

You will have worked within the Social Housing Sector for a significant amount of time, either for a landlord or a contractor.

You will  be capable of effective communication with people at all levels both externally and within the organisation. You will have good  IT skills with a proven ability to develop software to improve effective working methods and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages in your day to day work. You must be able to manage your own workload effectively. You must also have a full UK drivers’ licence and use of your own vehicle to access sites across the district.
