Our Children’s Centres meet the local needs of families with children 0-19 years, 25 if there is an additional need. We provide a wide range of support such as stay & play sessions, parenting classes, families who are struggling financially, or may be finding it difficult to handle their children’s behaviour and needs. We aim to improve outcomes for all children ensuring every child is school ready and has a good level of speech, language and communication development. We support parents to achieve their own aspirations and have positive parenting skills to help every child achieve their full potential. We support families to address issues as early as possible to prevent problems from escalating.
The day-to-day duties
Under the direction of the Children Centre Coordinator plan and deliver child centred services and support to include the education, care and welfare of all Children from the antenatal stage up to 19 years, 25 if there is an additional need. These will be delivered flexibly at times and venues to suit need.
Develop and deliver a range of support packages to vulnerable families and comply with all safeguarding and early help procedures
Improve parent’s aspirations for themselves and their children.
To work as part of a team to provide a fully integrated service for Children and Families in line with the
Children’s Centre agenda and within MHCT’s policies and procedures
To use the ECAF system to work with the Early Help process, chairing CAF and TAF meetings and taking on the role of Lead Professional as appropriate
To work as part of a team to focus upon supporting families to address issues as early as possible to prevent problems from escalating and requiring statutory intervention.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:
The successful candidate will have a recognised qualification i.e. NVQ Level 3 minimum or equivalent in related qualification in Health, Education or Social Care
The successful candidate will have experience in of assessing parents/carers strengths, skills and difficulties with an awareness of good parenting and a good understanding of risk factors to children and adults
The successful candidate will have experience of collaboratively working with families in the community and the family home who may be at risk to improve their parenting skills and capacity. They will have a good level of understanding regarding safeguarding issues and the authority’s reporting process.
The successful candidate will have experience in the delivery of Children Centre Early Years sessions
The successful candidate will need to flexible in their approach and working hours to meet service users needs
The successful candidate will have experience delivering evidence based programmes
The successful candidate will hold a full clean driving licence with use of a car.
