Dudley Disability Service is an all age disability service, providing joined-up support to people, from birth to old age. The aim of the service is to support children, young people and adults with special educational needs, learning or physical disabilities, or autism living in Dudley Borough, to achieve a full and happy life. A life in which they are independent, gain skills and knowledge and have a confident and sociable life.

A range of care and support services, as well as information and advice is on offer to enable people with special educational needs, autism and/or disabilities to live as independent and full lives as possible. The service works in partnership with each person it supports to ensure that it meets their needs, desires and aspirations. We want people to be supported in the way they want so they can achieve their own goals and the lifestyle they choose.

Location: Dudley Disability Service, Ladies Walk Health and Social Care Centre, Priory Lane, Sedgley, Dudley, West Midlands. DY3 3UA

We have 2 Grade 8 vacancies in our 0-25 multi-disciplinary team for Transition Social workers.

If you are an experienced or a newly qualified Adult or Children’s Social Worker looking for a new opportunity and keen to develop new ways of working and wanting to make a difference, then we want to hear from you.

This is a new way for working which enables a whole life approach to be taken when meeting the needs of our most vulnerable citizens with a disability. We are seeking to build on our early successes by recruiting the right people with the desired mind-set and required skills to take the service to the next level.

 

Applicants will need to demonstrate practical experience of delivering good quality services in one or more of the following areas;

  • Experience of delivering Social care services for Adults
  • Experience of delivering Social care services for Children
  • Desirable experience of working in Transitions
  • Promoting independence for our clients and families from a strength based approach
  • Have a robust understanding of the key legislative drivers Care Act (Adults), Children’s Act (Children), Mental Capacity Act and be an advocate of the person-centred approach.
  • Direct work with disabled Children/Adults.
  • Excellent strengths based assessments.
  • Delivery of good quality care in the fields of child protection work, children in care work and high-level child in need.
  • Delivery of Care Act assessments. Adult safeguarding work, strengths-based support planning and care management.
  • Preparing for clients for adulthood and transition planning.
  • Work with a children and family first approach.
  • Incorporate social inclusion principles, anti-oppressive practice and person-centred ways.
