Flourish at the Farm are recruiting for a number of part time and full time Learning Mentors to start with us in September 2021.

Part time salary: Actual pay £9496.20 - £10,077.36 (part time salary estimation 3 days a week on 39 week term time contract).

Full time salary: Actual pay £15,826.99 - £16,795.60 (full time 39 week term time contract).

The Role

Flourish at the Farm is an Alternative Provision that provides a practical and outdoor learning education environment utilising our unique environment. We are a provision that is approved by Warwickshire County Council and we work with schools in and around the area.

The role of a Learning Mentor is to support students which range between the ages of 7-16 with curriculum learning (KS1, 2, 3 & 4), as well as working with them to develop life skills and achieve independence.

A typical day will be spent working one to one with varying students either indoors or outdoors on set activities.

There may be times when things you need to adapt your mentoring style when things aren’t going to plan. The ability to remain calm, consistent and patient is key in these situations.

You will be required to complete administration tasks such as reporting relating to student progress.

What we are looking for

You will have previous demonstrable Teaching Assistant/Learning Mentor experience working with children with neurodiversity especially autism, ADHD and high levels of anxiety.

The essential skills required are as follows:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 Teaching Assistant equivalent qualification.
  • The ability to effectively manage students with challenging behaviours and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication skills and supportive, positive and non-judgemental attitude.
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures or willingness to undertake training.
  • Be flexible and very responsive in approach to teaching styles and methods.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
