Who we need

Are you a proven highway network management professional?

Do you want to be part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and help deliver one of the most exciting and comprehensive highway and traffic management programmes ever seen across the West Midlands.

If so, we are looking for an Assistant Route Network Manager to support the development  and management of the Commonwealth Games Route Network (GRN) and help deliver an outstanding service for athletes, spectators and the West Midlands community working in collaboration with local highways authorities, emergency services and Highways England.

Your role will be to help prepare the operation and management strategy for the GRN, ensure the GRN is ready for the Games and implement the strategy and support the operation of the GRN during the Games itself. We are looking for someone with experience in managing highway networks both in planning and day to day operations.

You will understand how complex urban and rural highway networks are managed and delivered particularly for large events. If you have experience working in network or traffic management centres so much the better.

This role is vital to the successful delivery of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and you will have a key role to play both as part of TfWM’s Games traffic management team and the wider West Midlands Games delivery agencies.

Whilst the role is expected to be primarily based at West Midlands Combined Authority in Birmingham, both within the Network Resilience directorate as well as the Regional Transportation Coordination Centre (RTCC), there will be a requirement to work within local authorities’ Urban Traffic Control Centres and at Highways England’s Regional Operations Centre in Quinton.

If this is an opportunity that excites you then this is the chance for you to help create a fantastic and thrilling Commonwealth Games for the West Midlands.
