We are looking to appoint an outstanding, creative and inspirational Leader of Learning to contribute fully to the further development of the MFL department at the academy. You will have the ability to teach Spanish and ideally French to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and desire to lead a growing department with great potential.

If you are able to motivate all students to achieve or exceed their target grades, if you are passionate about MFL, have an interest in being at the cutting edge of educational research and are driven to ensure students receive the best possible experience, then this job is for you. 

You will be joining a developing department that has a relentless focus on raising achievement. This is an exciting opportunity for either a current Head of Department or an aspiring leader ready for their next career step. All new staff are well supported by an excellent induction programme.

We are fully committed to providing opportunities for ongoing professional development and we are a lead provider of National Professional Qualification courses. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for the further development and implementation of a visionary 5-year curriculum and assessment model based on contemporary research and practice.
  • Be responsible for ensuring consistency across the department in terms of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance students’ cultural capital for example through in class and extra-curricular experiences.
  • Be required to lead on the professional development of subject staff in relation to MFL teaching with a view of developing MFL best practice. 
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other teachers, give advice to them and demonstrate to them effective teaching practice in order to help them meet the relevant standards and develop their teaching practice. 
  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other professionals within and beyond the Academy.
  • Raise achievement through motivating, challenging and inspiring our students;
  • Have a commitment to inclusion;
  • Help foster a culture of high expectations and achievement within the department;
  • Have drive, enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and humour.
  • Have opportunities to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy
  • Already possess QTS (Qualified Teacher Status.
