Jennens House are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our new Residential Assessment Team.

Jennens House provides residential and community-based parenting assessments, alongside psychological, cognitive, capacity and other related assessments to Family Courts and local authorities nationwide.

We emphasise high quality, small case load assessments, led by our social workers with the support of our wider multi-disciplinary team. We work with families from a range of backgrounds with various needs including mental health, complex abuse histories, childhood trauma, substance misuse, and learning difficulties. Jennens House is committed to providing the best support and assessment for every child and family we work with.

The safety of our children and families is paramount at Jennens House, and our Social Worker will take on an essential role in safeguarding. We are a 24/7 service, and you will be key within a wider team in providing on-call advice and cover.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for caseloads allocated by the registered manager which may include the assessment and supervision, including planned intensive interventions for our children and families.
  • Implement, monitor and review plans within multi-agency meetings relating to the assessed needs of children, young people and their families/courts in all cases.
  • Develop effective working partnerships with our families, and significant others in the light of the child/young person.
  • Liaise and work with other professionals and agencies to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families, and ensure that services are ‘joined up’ in approach.
  • Maintain performance and develop practice and experience in line with personal targets as agreed with line manager through supervision.
  • Work to the agreed quality standard for the service.
  • To maintain personal and professional training and development to meet the challenging demands of the job
  • Complete assessments and court reports in accordance with statutory procedures and practice.
  • Maintain up to date records of cases using management information systems in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the regular collection, collation and supporting of appropriate performance management information which meets the needs of the company.
  • To comply with the General Social Care Council's Code of Practice for Social Work England and qualified to degree level
  • The post holder should work flexibly outside office hours including working evenings and weekends to meet the needs of families.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience conducting assessments in a similar role
