Building Control Surveyor

Grade H: £30,451 – £33,782 per annum (pro-rata)

Post No: DP427 – 14.8 Hours per week

 

Location: Stafford

Cannock Chase Council operate a shared service arrangement with Stafford Borough Council to provide the Building Control service on behalf of both Councils. We are looking for an experienced Building Control Surveyor who is able to cover a whole range of construction projects within the areas covered by both Councils.

The key responsibilities include:-

• Checking plans (indoors)

• Site inspections (outdoors)

• Issuing completion certificates

• Surveying dangerous buildings

• Consultations with Architects and Engineers

This opportunity is an excellent chance to join a team of dedicated and forward looking Building Control professionals committed to providing high quality building control services. You should have relevant experience in Building Control/Construction and Building Regulations.

You will hold a BTEC HNC in Building Construction (or equivalent vocational experience) and a professional membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB at associate level or above. A degree in Building Surveying or equivalent would also be advantageous.

In addition you should have practical knowledge and experience of the Building Regulations and associated legislation and have written and verbal communication skills sufficient to deal with customers and Council Officers using a variety of media.

You must also have the ability to use Microsoft Office Packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook  to keep accurate up to date records and must also hold a full valid driving licence.

 

This post will be based at the Civic Centre, Riverside, Stafford.
