An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Finance Officer in the Children's Commissioning Service.  We are a small but busy team, responsible for undertaking all aspects of financial work in respect of children’s carers, care leavers and external placement providers, as well as payment for children's direct payments and financial packages for children with disabilities.

You will carry out the following duties:

  • Timely and efficient recording of all children's placements; processing all maintenance and fee payments in respect of children placed in foster care and related placements
  • Undertake the recording and payments of all external placements, and recording of placement fees
  • Timely and efficient processing of all Personal Allowances in respect of Care Leavers, and other associated costs
  • The weekly reconciliation of the care leavers’ bank account
  • Recording, and the payment of, care packages for children with disabilities, including Direct Payments
  • Investigating any payment irregularities, recovering over payments including the processing of recharges

The successful candidate should have the knowledge and experience that demonstrates literacy, numeracy and excellent communication skills, together with relevant experience gained from working in a financial environment.  You will also possess excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and databases.  It is important that you work well within a team and on your own initiative, and can work well under pressure to manage a busy workload to ensure that all deadlines are met.
