We are currently recruiting for a Museum Access Assistant. 


You will support access to the collections through assisting in the provision of events, activities and informal learning sessions to a range of age groups.

You will also support access through making reserve collections available to researchers and enquirers. You will be required to act as Fire warden, facilitating evacuation when on duty. You will work on a rota basis during weekends and Bank Holidays. This may also include some evening hours. You may have the opportunity to work additional hours to cover holidays.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the Access Assistant role is temporarily prioritising support to the Front of House Team which involves both weekday and weekend hours.

This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an advanced DBS disclosure

This role is 5.75 hours average per weekend on a rota basis – role temporarily covering some weekdays

To be successful in this role you will have;

  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent and basic education
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public
  • Good communication skills and enjoy working with and supporting a small team
  • A real passion for engaging with and communicating with people of all ages, bringing our diverse collections to life in an inspirational and enjoyable way.
