Job Details
This position is a Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2022.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is seeking a challenge in an interesting field. We need someone who will pro-actively champion the Prevent Programme to community, voluntary and faith-based organisations in Sandwell and raise their awareness of Prevent, and resilience to extremism.
You will be responsible for leading on the engagement with the community by building a network of contacts and relationships and delivering sessions and training to these groups, as well as offering support on Prevent related issues and concerns.
This role involves identifying vulnerabilities and risk and providing advice and insights on local community sentiment and tensions to the Prevent Delivery Group. You will have the responsibility of leading the team’s social media and online presence and increasing the Prevent programme’s visibility in Sandwell.
You will need to have GCSE in English and Maths Grade A-C or equivalent, or experience directly relevant to this post. You will also, have at least 2 years current or recent experience in community engagement work or in a related field including Prevent, voluntary sector or community safety.
We are looking for someone who has knowledge and understanding of the community, voluntary sector and faith-based sectors and of the ‘Prevent Duty’ as part of the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015.
It is key that the successful person has good knowledge of the Sandwell area, it’s local communities and institutions. Our ideal candidate will have a good level of resilience and skills to manage difficult conversations and situations, considering the area of work Prevent covers.
You will be required to travel effectively to make regular visits to voluntary, community and faith-based organisations and meetings daily. Working days can be negotiated and flexibility will be required where occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
A Basic DBS is required for this role.
