We are an Adult Education Service providing learners with opportunities to learn, progress and achieve their potential.

As part of our Learner Gateway, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work closely with learners to help them overcome barriers to learning, facilitating engagement in teaching and learning, and being the key colleague responsible for their achievement and progress.

The successful applicant will work with an allocated caseload of learners from all backgrounds, including learning disabilities and learning difficulties, to enhance their learning experience and support them with their long-term goals and aspirations. Ideally you will have experience of working with adult learners and providing academic support.

The post holder will be required to set SMART targets for personal and long-term goals of learners. You will be expected to coach learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to motivate, support and equip learners for achieving success in their personal, behavior, welfare and development and academic goals. You will be expected to use your own initiative and to work as part of a team.

Provide careers education, information, advice and guidance to learners to formalise their short, medium and long term goals prior to enrolment on a programme of study.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire learners, as well as being able to manage your time effectively.

You will need to have a flexible approach as some evening and weekend work will be required. You must hold English and Maths at Level 2.

You will need excellent IT skills

Skills and experience to include -

Managing a caseload of circa 200 learners subject to the level of need of learners. 2.2 To conduct learners’ initial assessments, including the setting of career goals and milestones tailored to the needs of each learner.

Ensuring each learner is provided with robust Careers, Education, Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG) to establish their starting point, maximise their learning pathway, including both academic and vocational routes in order to fulfil their learning and career potential.
