Hales Valley Multi Academy Trust is a primary academy trust, based in Dudley, West Midlands. We currently consist of five very different primary schools, ensuring that our Trust is a diverse and exciting place to work and learn.

The Role

Trust Company Secretary (Vacancy Reference HVT- 0227)

We are looking for a dynamic company secretary to provide a range of effective administrative support services to the Members, the Chair, the Board of Directors, members of the Local Governing Bodies and to the CEO and Central Executive team.

Your role is to ensure that the business of the Trust Board is conducted smoothly and efficiently and to be the adviser to the Board on procedural matters, securing the Trust’s compliance with all statutory and legal requirements.

You will be the first point of contact for trustees and executive directors, ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements, championing high standards of governance and promoting best practice.

You will build strong relationships across the Board and work within a culture of high performance. You will be trusted partner to the Chair of the Trust Board and CEO, providing expert, consistent advice and guidance on all governance and compliance matters.

You will work with an understanding of the vision and ethos of the Trust, the role of the CEO, Members, the Board of Directors and the Local Governing Committees.

You will have substantial experience providing secretarial and administrative support at Board/Senior Management/ Governing Body level and hold a relevant qualification or working towards one (Chartered Secretary or Chartered Governance Professional) You will have substantial knowledge of governance procedures and legislation.

You will be employed on an annualised contract working a total of 380 hours per year term time. Based at home, you will need to have a flexible approach to working hours including attendance at pre-arranged board meetings undertaken in the evenings. You will be required to attend meetings in person across the Trust sites. This will be discussed in detail at interview.

You will be appointed on a 12 month fixed term contracts at Grade 9, SCP 28 to 31, (actual salary £7,425 to £8,000)
