This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Traffic Management Team to provide technical advice and support within the Transport and Highway Development Service area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment.

We have 626 miles of road, 743 miles of footpaths, 132 cycle ways, 20,000 street lights, 120 roundabouts, around 400 parks and open spaces and around 15 million trees. In 20120/21, our aim is to further improve our road network and highways assets. Some £12m will be invested during the year, delivering 222 improvement schemes across the borough. Another £10m will be invested the year after.

The latest findings by the Department for Transport show that the condition of our roads are better than the regional and national averages, which is quite an achievement given the current financial challenges we face.

Working in alongside the wider Traffic Engineering team, you will develop and implement both permanent and temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s may include waiting restrictions, speed limits, one-way orders and temporary road closures), ensuring that the appropriate legislation and regulations are complied with to minimise disruption and provide a safe and free flowing transport network and support Telford & Wrekin Council’s move to Civil Parking Enforcement.

As part of this role you will manage and maintain TRO’s and associated systems including public facing website and undertake public consultation on scheme work with a wide range of bodies including the public, Town/Parish Councils, Local Members and senior management.

For further information on the role please click on the job description and person specification which is available below.

Along with your application please also submit a supporting statement outlining how you meet the Person Specification.

For an informal discussion, please contact Matt Powell – matt.powell@telford.gov.uk

Please complete the online application form as CVs will not be accepted.

We are committed to equality and diversity.
