We have an opening to join the Development Management Team at Lichfield District Council in the post of a temporary Technical Support Officer (Planning) for an initial period of up to 2 years.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide technical and administrative support principally to the Development Management planning team. You will be responsible for the registration and validation of planning applications and other technical and administrative work to support the processing of applications submitted to the Council.

You will be required to give advice and guidance to members of the public and deal with various computer based systems including Geographical Information System (GIS), Idox Uniform systems, various databases, PowerPoint and Document Management Systems (DMS).

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be in regular contact with members of the public, planning applicants and agents, consultees, professional specialists and consultants, Councillors and work colleagues. A high level of computer literacy is also a must and it is also important that you are able to demonstrate previous practical experience in using a GIS system. You should have good organisational skills, be an effective team-player and have the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
