Sports Apprenticeship (Fixed Term for 24 Months)

If you are passionate about sports and physical education and enjoy helping children to learn and progress, this could be a great opportunity for you. The successful candidate will join a strong team of staff who are committed to improving outcomes for children.  As the PE/Sports Coach at Castlefort, you will be able to have a positive impact on the physical, social and emotional well-being of our pupils.  We are offering a Teaching Assistant qualification with a level 3 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education and School Sport alongside it.

Salary (35 hours per week, term-time only):

  • 25 and over - £8.91/hour
  • 21 to 24 - £8.36 per hour
  • 18 to 20 - £6.56 per hour
  • Under 18 - £4.62 per hour

Job description

To work under the supervision of our PE Leader and class teachers to deliver all aspects of physical education across KS1 and KS2. This will involve setting up and delivering planned PE lessons, organising break and lunchtime sporting activities/games, running after-school clubs for children (sports-based) and supporting with inter-school competitive sports/matches. There may be opportunity to supplement income through holiday clubs.

Our school also has an outdoor learning classroom and woodland area. The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to support teachers with outdoor learning activities.

Essential requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • A strong interest in and passion for sports and outdoor education
  • Previous coaching experience

Desirable:

  • GCSE in PE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • National coaching qualifications in a variety of sports
  • Duke of Edinburgh Awards
