Science Technician Apprentice - Foxford Community School

Salary up to £12,656 pa. 37 hours per week (5 days per week), Term time only plus 5 teacher training days.  Salary will be pro rata to weeks worked.  Temporary for the duration of the apprenticeship, from September 2021 to August 2022.

Do you love the idea of working with children? Are you passionate about improving students’ life chances? Do you have a keen interest in Science?

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to gain interpersonal skills and knowledge of technical support and intervention strategies in order to

work with young people so that they achieve their very best.  Along the way you will gain a nationally recognised level 2 or level 3 teaching assistant qualification.

You will be enthusiastic and motivated about science and be determined to help students develop their own enthusiasm. You will work alongside teachers to support the delivery of science and other extra-curricular activities.

This is a unique opportunity to combine providing effective and efficient support for the learning and teaching of science whilst gaining an insight into the role of a student mentor.  You will be providing specialist technician support to staff and students across all areas of science, preparing and assembling equipment, chemicals, materials and apparatus.  The role will entail providing technical advice and assistance in the classroom and as you develop your skills you will have the opportunity to work 1:1 with students as needed.

Through the leader in our student support faculty and the Science Faculty Leader, we will provide comprehensive induction training.  You will shadow our other staff so you can get a really good understanding of our systems and policies and have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know our students during your induction programme.  Thereafter dedicated time will be built into your working week to enable you to progress with your apprenticeship qualification.

Working in our school community will provide scope to develop knowledge, skills and experience so you will be equipped and prepared for future employment.

This is an exciting time to join us.  With a new headteacher in post, part of the Castle Phoenix Trust, we are committed to invest in and develop all staff and, most importantly, bring about the best possible outcomes for our students who deserve the very best.  Our Trust values are really important to all of us and include Respect to All, From All, Innovation and Collaboration.
