Housing Solicitor/Barrister (Anti Social Behaviour)

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: 11

Post: Permanent and full time

Location: Harbour Buildings, Waterfront West, Brierley Hill DY5 1LN/Working from Home

Reporting directly to the Senior Solicitor, the successful applicant will predominantly undertake work relating to using legal remedies to tackle anti-social behaviour (usually by way of urgent applications to court for anti-social behaviour injunctions, including any committals arising from them, closure orders and possession proceedings). There may also be some opportunity to undertake a broad range of legal work related to other aspects of housing law and to provide general advice to the Council’s stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be experienced in the law relating to seeking and dealing with all aspects of anti-social behaviour injunctions, possession proceedings and carrying a full caseload of claimant work files on behalf of a social landlord (though those with relevant and transferable experience of work on behalf of defendants will also be considered).  Daily tasks will include drafting notices, court applications (including claims for injunctions, committal applications and possession) and undertaking advocacy.  As and when the opportunity arises, you may also be asked to provide in-house legal training and assist in the drafting of policies, protocols and procedures.

The post-holder must be able to work flexibly, possess excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise workloads efficiently.  You must hold appropriate professional qualifications, cope well under pressure, and be prepared to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative.
