We have a vacancy in the Highways Electrical Asset Team and we are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join the existing team as Principal Electrical Asset Officer.

The post sits within the Highways and Infrastructure Division of the Inclusive Growth Directorate and the roles will support the Highways Electrical Asset Manager as part of the Electrical Asset Management team. The team deals with all issues relating to highway electrical assets, including street lighting, and traffic signals. The team also plays a key role in supporting and advising the Client function of the City’s existing Highways Maintenance Service.

You will support the Electrical Asset Manager with specialist advice relating to street lighting design, installation, maintenance and management, including reviewing programmes of delivery. You will also monitor and manage those service and technical issues associated with Highways electrical assets included in the scope of Birmingham City Council’s existing Highways Maintenance Service contract.

Important skills include being able to manage the delivery of services by a large service provider and having the ability to understand the dynamics of providing an electrical asset service in a large Local Authority. Experience of operating within a contract management environment is essential. You should be a Member of the Institute of Lighting Professionals.

This is a high-profile service and the service demands a strong degree of public and elected member contact.
