Finance / Income Management Assistant

£19,312 - £19,698 per annum

NJC Scale 3

Three exciting opportunities have arisen to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Finance department as follows:

1. Financial Management System Support team and Corporate Finance team.

Working in a role supporting the Financial Management System Support Team and Corporate Finance Team, the role provides support for the council’s finance system (Agresso Unit4 ERP) across a wide audience including corporate teams, schools and external partners, whilst also carrying out admin and reconciliation functions for the Corporate Finance team. We are looking for an enthusiastic customer focused individual ideally with experience of working in a Finance environment.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Responding to queries and requests relating to Agresso raised via the help-desk system and by telephone ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively
  • Carrying out regular daily\weekly\monthly tasks such as resolution of overnight interface processing coding issues
  • Reconciliation of corporate systems, such as salaries, mobile phones, etc to the General Ledger
  • Production of regular reports from the Finance system
  • Processing journals based on information provided by other Finance team members

2. Income Management Team and Capital & Projects Finance Team.

Working in a role supporting the Income Management Team and the Capital & Projects Finance Team, the role will require you to interrogate and interpret information held on multiple systems so good analytical and ICT skills are essential as well as being able to work accurately and methodically. The ability to communicate effectively within both teams and with other Council officers across the wider services is also important to ensure the smooth running of the service.   

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Income Management Team - the post holder will report to the Income Management Supervisor and will form part of a small team responsible for updating the income management system and producing an accurate cash book which feeds into the Councils financial ledger and Statement of Accounts.
  • The Capital & Projects Finance Team - assisting with the completion of grant claims and processing journals on the Finance Management System to ensure a complete and accurate capital ledger.

3. Business, Education & Care Finance Team

Working in a role supporting a Service Accountancy Team. The post holder will be responsible for a number of tasks mainly supporting accountancy work for Service based teams. 

  • This will involve significant spreadsheet work preparing and managing information for more Senior Accountancy staff and non-financial Managers;
  • This role will require a good level of creativity and good analytical skills.
  • The successful individual will be able to work successfully as part of a Team.

 

 

For all three roles you will be a customer focused, motivated team player with some experience of working within a Finance or business environment and knowledge of MS Excel.

The post holders will be supported in these entry roles into the Finance Department, which provides a good opportunity to learn technical and accountancy skills.
