Job Details

Sandwell Sensory Support Team has a vacancy for a full time Qualified Teacher of the Deaf from September 2021.

This is a peripatetic teaching post working in Sandwell in the West Midlands. Applications are also welcome from teachers who are willing to undertake the required QToD training.

The salary is TMS/UPS + TLR2c (TLR2b until qualification is confirmed).

The Hearing Impairment Team is part of the Sensory Support Service. We have a successful record of inclusion of children and young people with hearing impairment within mainstream schools, also supporting those in specialist provisions. Team members work closely with staff from the other SEN Support Services, working collaboratively to support settings to deliver positive outcomes for children and young people in Sandwell.

Working with children and young people from birth to twenty-five years, the Team has good working relationships with a wide range of agencies.

The job will provide challenging and stimulating work across the age range and in a range of settings. The role is varied and will include direct teaching of pupils with a hearing impairment, assessment of their needs and advice sharing with settings.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate:

  • Outstanding teaching of children with SEND
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A clear understanding of best practice in SEND
  • The ability to inspire staff to attain the highest standards of teaching and learning
  • The ability to develop strong partnerships with parents, colleagues and the community
  • The ability to communicate and model Sandwell’s vision and values
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to the highest standards of pupil care and safeguarding
  • An ability work collaboratively and flexibly with others to meet the needs of pupils.

You must be a Qualified Teacher and Qualified Teacher of the Deaf.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
