We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Highway Works Permit Team and be a part of Solihull’s continuing success.

For Solihull, HS2 presents a unique opportunity to realise unprecedented levels of growth and, through its ‘UK Central’ vision, the Council is embarking upon a programme of infrastructure development and delivery on a scale never seen before in Solihull.

We currently have a vacancy for a Civil Engineering Apprentice where you will experience a range of placements within the Highway Services Team whilst undertaking a Civil Engineering Level 3 qualification supporting the team to oversee the effective operation of the highway network through the co-ordination of all highway works and to engage with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to deliver a customer focused service.

 

 

 

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C (4-9) including Mathematics at Grade B (5-9), English Language and Science or an equivalent qualification such as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction or Engineering at Merit or Distinction Level (predicted grades will be accepted at application stage but confirmation/certificates will need to be provided before any job offer is made)

 

Willingness to undertake a Level 3 Diploma

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Good Communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to solve problems

Good Organisation skills

Able to prioritise work and manage your own time effectively, produce accurate work to deadlines and to operate in a team environment
