Environmental Services Operative Level 1

Grade 3 (SCP 5 - 9)

£19,312 - £20,903 pro rata per annum

We are currently seeking proactive and keen individuals to create a new team dedicated primarily to weekend working on an annualised hours contract.

4 x part time operative roles working on a rota basis throughout the year to cover primarily Saturdays and Sundays, plus additional hours to meet an annualised hours contract of 962 hours per annum (average equivalent of 16hrs per week), primarily focused on the summer period, with reduced hours in the off-season.

These will be permanent positions on a part time contract, and successful candidates will be subject to a 6-month probationary period as standard.

Grade 3, starting salary: £19,312 per annum pro-rata to hours worked

Job summary: -

You will be an essential part of the council’s Place teams delivering street cleansing and grounds maintenance work and will be a visible customer focused presence in the town centre during weekends, also as ad-hoc support for the other members of our Place teams during the week on a rota providing similar cleansing-based tasks.

You will need to be flexible in your working pattern and must hold a driving license, the post involves you working longer hours in the spring/summer to meet the demands of the job and far fewer hours in the autumn/winter, totalling 839.63 hours across the year. You will be expected to take leave during less busy times, avoiding spring/summer peak times, and in coordination with the rest of the team to ensure service capacity is maintained.

Your pay will be evenly distributed across the year, meaning you will get regular monthly pay into your account throughout the year.

This will be a crucial role in keeping our key areas clean and tidy for the residents of Bromsgrove and visitors alike to enjoy, there will be use of a council vehicle to allow travel to provide cleansing and bin emptying to the district`s more rural shop areas and help maintain a high standard across the district.

Suitable candidates will have a flexible, proactive attitude and be keen to make a difference with their work. All necessary training and guidance to gain knowledge and understanding for the job will be given to support as you become part of our team.

You will be working in tandem with other part time post holders as well as our full time Place teams to deliver a continuity of service for the district in respect of cleansing and maintenance.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a sense of local pride, passion, practical mindset and a commitment to provide a quality, customer focused service to both the residents and businesses of Bromsgrove district.

A full UK driving license is essential to fulfil the role.
