Whitestone Infant School is a friendly and successful school, where children’s needs are always put first. The Governors wish to appoint enthusiastic, caring individual(s) who can join our dedicated staff team to promote high quality learning experiences for children across the school.
Post 1 will entail supporting a delightful Reception child during lunchtime to ensure the child’s safety, attending to the child’s hygiene needs and general care with the aim of providing full inclusion into the life of Whitestone. Please note that this post will require someone who is physically fit, who can work from a kneeling position at times and will involve an element of manual handling. Full training will be provided.
Post 2 will entail supporting a small group of children during lunchtime to ensure their safety, to attend to their hygiene needs and general care with the aim of providing full inclusion into the life at Whitestone. •Supervising and caring for individual/groups of children.
•Work as part of a team.
Knowledge and Understanding
•General Health and Safety procedures especially relating to children.
•Knowledge of outdoor and indoor games to play with individual/groups of children.
•Understanding of children’s cares and concerns, and wish to know and appreciate each child.
•Knowledge and understanding about safeguarding issues relating to children.
•Reading, writing and numeracy skills to fulfil duties of the role.
•Ability to manage individual/groups of children in a calm, dignified but firm manner.
•Ability to make and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
•Ability to tell a story or rhymes to groups of children.
•Ability to organise groups of children and maintain care and control.
•Ability to judge when to involve or report to senior members of staff.
•Conscientiousness in carrying out responsibilities.
•Willingness to work as part of a team.
•Confidentiality about the private concerns of children.
•Punctuality and reliability.
