Job Details
Based at Operations and Development Centre, Roway Lane, Oldbury, the Gas Services team has responsibility for ensuring that SMBC is compliant with it's landlord duties in ensuring all landlords owned appliances are maintained in a safe working order. The role of the Gas Engineer will be to undertake responsive repairs, planned safety checks, servicing, appliance and system installation in a range of domestic, commercial and public buildings.
Responsive Repairs: to include fault finding, diagnostic checks and repairs on domestic and commercial gas / solid fuel central heating systems, boilers, space heaters, unvented and solar thermal.
Planned Safety Checks: to include landlord’s gas safety checks and servicing to manufacturer’s instructions / recommendations on all landlords owned gas / solid fuel appliances.
Installations: to include the installation and commissioning of full domestic gas central heating systems, boiler and space heater replacements, system upgrade and conversion in compliance with energy efficiency requirements of building regulations.
You will be able to demonstrate sound practical knowledge of current Gas Safety Regulations, Building Regulations 2010: Documents L1A and domestic Building Services Compliance Guide (2013). You will need to evidence extensive experience (minimum 2 years) in; responsive repairs, planned safety checks and installations.
You will also be required to work where requested and cover areas where resources are required.
You will hold all relevant domestic ACS gas competencies (Must include CCN1, (CPA1), CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1). You will also hold NVQ II or equivalent in Domestic Natural Gas – Installation and Maintenance.
Oil, LPG and Commercial/Catering qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Qualifications and Competencies must be produced at interview and the applicant will be required to sit a skills test paper as part of shortlisting.

Hours
37 hours per week
You will be required to work flexibly between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday and be available for out-of-hours’ work on a standby arrangement.
