Trainee Estate Caretaker

City Wide

Working 36.50 hours per week

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

As an Estate Caretaker you will be based at one of our estates, working in residential accommodation, high and low level blocks, and other areas on our council estates, undertaking a wide variety of interesting, varied and rewarding tasks including, caretaking, cleaning, environmental maintenance, removal of fly-tipping, refuse and graffiti, health and safety and maintenance service, painting, and customer services activities - you could say it’s a different job everyday!

You will provide assistance to customers with general housing related queries, liaising with Neighbourhood Caretakers, Area Caretakers and other Council colleagues.You will also liaise with other organisations in order to maintain the local environment such as Repair contractors and Waste Management.


You will be a great listener and communicator and be able to understand and interpret instructions. You will be required to make day to day decisions regarding site safety and you must be able to deal with any issues that arise in a calm, professional manner, have a ‘can-do’ improvement-focused attitude, along with a desire to keep learning. You will also be enthusiastic and be flexible and adaptable.
